Over the years, rivers, lakes, canals, harbours, marinas and other waterways have been filling up with sediments.
Routine dredging is required to remove these sediments. Contaminated sediments then have to be disposed of properly in landfills. Transportation and disposal costs are high due to the amount of water generated in the dredging operation.
High capacity dewatering
Now, by using Silt Tube technology, high capacity dewatering can be accomplished in an economical way at or near the site utilising a dewatering basin. The sediments are removed first through hydraulic dredging and then pumped directly into the Silt Tube structure. The quality of the Silt Tube fabric and know-how allow to safely stacking tubes on top of one another to minimise space needed.
Less transport movements
Silt Tube technology reduces the amount of transport movements for disposal and makes logistics easier. The special properties of our Silt Tube structure even allow the dredged sediment to be utilised at site for bank reinforcement or landscaping purposes.
